How did you get started in the industry?
More than 18 years ago, my landlord said, “You’d be great in pest control.” I replied, “No, I don’t think so.” But he convinced me to go down and apply, and they hired me on the spot. It was love at first bug, and the rest is history.
What’s the most unusual item in your office?
I have an aluminum anthill casting sculpture.
Did you have any mentors along the way? Who are they, and how did they impact your career path?
The one who sparked my passion for this industry is Joe Tomasiello. He taught me much of what I know and has always encouraged me to strive to be the best at what I do.
What’s the biggest learning experience you’ve had?
Realizing that it’s OK to fail. Failure teaches valuable lessons, and it makes success that much more rewarding when you finally achieve it.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
To approach everything with a grateful heart.
What’s the worst advice you’ve ever received?
Fake it till you make it. I believe it’s more important to be authentic and true to yourself.
What’s your secret talent?
My ability to create a loving home for those in need. I have a habit of taking in stray kids, pigs, donkeys, dogs, and cats. I even hoped to rescue a camel, but that’s not looking too promising!
What life skill do you wish you were better at?
I’d love to be better at navigating tech-related tasks, as it would make my work and personal life more efficient. But I am working on it every day—I have come a long way.
What are you most excited about these days?
I’m over the moon about the opportunity to attend PestWorld for the first time!
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Being told that I have integrity and good character.
When’s the last time you changed your mind about something significant?
When I embraced the new changes coming to my department. Initially, I wasn’t sure if they would work, but I’m glad I kept an open mind. The changes are heading in the right direction, and I’m excited to see where they will take us.
If you could be a fly on the wall anywhere in the world for a day, where would you choose?
I’d choose to be in a thriving rainforest. It would be fascinating to observe the insects and their environment. I can’t even imagine what I would see.
Who would play you in the film of your life?
I would choose Jodie Foster to play me. She has a remarkable ability to portray strength and authenticity, which I believe aligns with my character.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
To become a better leader. I feel there’s so much to learn in this area, and I want to improve my leadership skills so I can better support my team.
Describe your perfect day.
My perfect day would be spent with my family, especially my grandbabies. Nothing makes me happier than having everyone together and creating lasting memories.
What’s your pet peeve?
When someone lies to me. Honesty is very important to me.
What entertainment are you binging right now?
“The Chosen.”
Finally, what do you want to be when you grow up?
I wouldn’t want to be anything else. The pest control industry is truly something I love. I live and breathe pest control. I’ve had so much fun over the past 18 years, and I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by.
