- President's Message: Planning for the Future
JUSTIN MCCAULEY, McCauley Services
The start of a new year is always a point of reflection on the past and a look at what’s to come. And as 2023 also marks NPMA’s 90th anniversary, we have done the same in looking to the organization’s rich history, the accomplishments of our members, and the growth of our industry over that time. We’re also looking forward to celebrating this milestone throughout the course of this year and at our upcoming PestWorld 2023 in Honolulu, Hawaii this October.
As we plan for the organization’s future, one area of critical importance is ensuring we have an ongoing pipeline of potential association leaders. I’m thrilled to announce our new Leader Launch program that is designed to do just that. Building on the success of our prestigious Executive Leadership Program, Leader Launch is an 18-month deep dive that will ensure prospective future leaders have the necessary qualifications, experience and understanding of not just the industry, but the association, its programs and governing structure. Our inaugural class of participants kicks off this program this month. Find out more about the program and our goals at www.npmapestworld.org/leaderlaunch.
We also need to ensure we know what’s to come from those external forces that effect your business, and much of that is covered in this special Legislative issue. Fresh off the midterm elections, we review what NPMA is tracking at the federal and state levels, as well as the most recent regulatory issues that may impact you as a member. Want to know more about NPMA’s public policy efforts and meet with your representatives on Capitol Hill? Consider joining us at our upcoming Legislative Day, March 12-14, 2023, in Washington, DC.
Finally, as part of our look to the future, you’ll notice that PestWorld magazine has received a bit of a refresh for the new year. Using feedback from members and input from our volunteer Marketing 2 Membership Committee, we’ve updated the look, while still maintaining the focus on the topics of most importance to you in running a pest management business. You’ll also find a new, fun approach to spotlighting a member in each issue with our What’s the Buzz feature on the inside back page. We hope you enjoy and welcome your feedback.
