Supporting You Through Events and Initiatives
SCOTT STECKEL, Plunkett's Pest Control, Inc.
As I write this message, we’re well into the year, and will soon be getting into our busy season for pest management. NPMA continues to work to support you, our members, to provide resources to handle this busy time. In 2022, our team has continued our focus on work-force development, inclusion and diversity initiatives, and upcoming legislation, to name a few.
This issue focuses on the importance of culture when building an effective team. In the current highly competitive work climate, positioning your company as a stand-out employer takes time and effort. Part of that process means building a supportive, diverse team with the resources and programs in place to ensure your employees feel supported, involved and appreciated. At a time when many employees are weighing their options, it’s worthwhile to take the time to reevaluate your company climate and make sure it’s ideal. This issue’s features real-life tips on how some of our member organizations improved the culture in their companies.
Along those lines, an inclusive workforce is another critical component to a healthy workplace. The NPMA’s Diversity Committee aims to educate members on the benefits of diversity, provide tools, promote NPMA membership to minority-owned PCOs and assist other committees with diversity education. The committee has also gathered resources to aid you in increasing diversity at your company—go to www.npmapestworld.org/inclusion for more information.
On the events horizon, in-person events are back and better than ever. Make plans now to attend Academy 2022, to be held from July 12-14 in Orlando, FL—this event brings pest professionals together for education, teambuilding and networking. And save the date for this year’s PestWorld, to be held in Boston on October 11-14—it should be an incredible event!
My sincere appreciation to the membership for all you do to promote health and safety on a daily basis—your efforts are vital, and NPMA’s staff and board will continue promoting your great work and supporting you through events and initiatives.
