U.S. Pest Control Industry Shows Remarkable Resilience with Nearly 8% Growth in 2024
The structural pest control industry in the United States demonstrated impressive strength in 2024, generating total service revenue of $12.654 billion, according to the latest report from Specialty Consultants, LLC. This represents a robust 7.9% increase from 2023's $11.723 billion, continuing the industry's pattern of steady growth.
"These impressive figures reflect the essential nature of pest management services and the industry's ability to adapt to changing economic conditions," said Dominique Stumpf, CAE, CEO of NPMA. "With more than 17,000 pest control firms operating across the country and service revenue approaching $13 billion, our industry continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience and growth year over year. We're particularly encouraged by the strong performance in both residential and commercial sectors."
The report revealed several notable trends. Revenue from cockroach control slightly exceeded that from nuisance ant control, while carpenter ant control services saw the largest revenue increase at 13.8%. Bed bug control revenue also grew by 5.9%, following a 10.6% increase in the previous year.
The residential segment remained strong with over 13.25 million customers receiving professional pest control services, with recurring revenue accounting for 85.2% of residential service revenue. Meanwhile, the commercial segment expanded impressively with a 9.0% increase in service revenue.
On the supply side, expenditures for pest control products exceeded $1 billion for the first time, increasing 8.9% from 2023.
Specialty Consultants projects further growth of slightly more than 6% for 2025, highlighting the pest control industry's continued importance and stability despite broader economic challenges.
