NPMA has created a new guidance document for pest management professionals who work in healthcare facilities. The Pest Management Guidelines for Healthcare Facilities document was developed in collaboration with pest management professionals (PMPs) and subject matter experts who understand the unique challenges presented when performing pest control in these sensitive environments.
This guidance document provides technical information for PMPs regarding the healthcare environment and appropriate pest management strategies to ensure facility pest management goals are met. This document covers many aspects of IPM in healthcare facilities including the following:
- Facility Inspections
- Risk Assessment Approaches
- Facility Communication
- Pest Management Strategies
- Glossary of Healthcare-Specific Terminology
Additionally, the appendix includes a comprehensive guide to common mites found in and around healthcare facilities and other structures. Owners, managers, and technicians will find pertinent information they can use this to work with healthcare facility staff to create a cohesive and effective IPM plan.
