UPDATE: HB 4520 Passes the House
On December 8, 2016, HB 4520--Responsibilities for Landlords and Tenants Regarding Bed Bug Infestations passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 55-50 and will now be considered by the Michigan Senate. NPMA, MPMA, and Michigan SPAR--Bill Welsh are closely monitoring the bill.
Michigan Bed Bug Bills
MPMA and NPMA are closely coordinating to revive two bed bug bills (HB 4520 & S. 294) that were previously introduced during the legislative session. These bills are very similar to the landmark legislation that passed in Connecticut—mandating that landlords pay PMPs for inspections and treatments of bed bug infestations. NPMA, MPMA, and Michigan SPAR—Bill Welsh will push for the passage of these bills during this session.
