About the Exam
The NPMA PRO Certified exam consists of 150 multiple-choice and scenario/based questions. Topics covered on the exam include Pests, Laws & Regulations, Safety, Equipment, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and Industry Professionalism. Applicants will have two hours to complete the test and must answer at least 120 questions correctly to earn a passing score on the exam. If a passing score is not earned, the exam can be attempted again for a retake fee of $75 USD.
Exam Requirements
The NPMA PRO Certified exam will take place online in a virtually proctored setting. Within two business days of registering for the exam you will receive an email from npmapro@pestworld.org providing you with credentials to login to the testing platform Everblue.
You will have 90 days to complete the exam at your convenience in a single two-hour sitting.
Technology Requirements
Given the exam’s remote testing nature, these are the technology requirements. Please review them thoroughly in advance of sitting for the exam.
- Use a traditional desktop or laptop. You CANNOT take the exams from a Chromebook nor mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android device, etc.).
- Check to be sure your computer operating software is up to date. Your operating system must be updated and at minimum: Windows 10+ or MacOS 10.15+.
- You will need to have Internet Speed Upload: 1 Mbps and Download: 2 Mbps. Tethering, VPNs, or Hotspots are not suggested.
- You need a working webcam and microphone.
- You can only use ONE monitor; dual monitors are not allowed.
- You will need administrative rights to your computer to download the proctoring tool.
- If a “remote desktop” application is used, it must be disabled on the laptop or desktop computer to be used for the online exam. If you do NOT disable the “remote desktop” application, then you will not be able to properly install the exam proctoring application – Respondus with LockDown Browser.
- Use an updated version of Google Chrome or Edge.
- Before beginning your exam, shut down your computer and restart and DO NOT OPEN OTHER APPLICATIONS on your computer other than this exam.
Every NPMA PRO Certified Technician is required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of Continuing Education (CE) every 3 years.
Continuing Education is defined as formal instruction or classroom-style training provided at industry-sanctioned events that are approved by NPMA or state lead agencies for recertification credit. Industry-sanctioned events can include state, regional, or national pest management conferences, including NPMA conferences, or online training hosted in the NPMA Online Learning Center. In-house training held at a pest management firm may also qualify if it is approved for recertification credit by a state lead agency and meets the requirements and topic definitions below. NPMA reserves the right to approve NPMA PRO Certified recertification credit for any professional training not held at any outside event.
- 1 hour of continuing education training = 1 CE credit.
- Each CE credit can only be submitted for one category.
- The QualityPro Core exam counts for 1 CE for any category but can only be used one time within 3 years of passing the exam.
- The QualityPro Public Health, Schools, and GreenPro exams each count for 1 CE credit towards the Technical category but can only be submitted one time within 3 years of passing the exam.
- Presenting/Teaching - A maximum of 3 CE credits can be earned across all categories from instruction or training provided by the NPMA PRO Certified Technician that is registered with the state and qualifies for state recertification credit.
- College level (or equivalent) course – A maximum of 3 CE credits can be earned across all categories with the completion of any industry-focused course offered at a college, university, or trade school.
