VPMA Achieves Regulatory Victory for Pesticide Applicator Certification

A final rule surrounding the certification process in Virginia will become effective on September 22, 2016. The rule amends certain definitions, revises the non-reader program, clarifies on the job training requirements for applicators, eliminates the ten day waiting period to retake a failed exam and increases the period a technician may re-take the exam from the proposed 30 days to 90 days. An  issue VPMA specifically advocated to increase from 30.

Started with Orkin (Rollins) in 1965 and purchased PermaTreat Pest Control in 1982. Merged with Rollins in 2014 and celebrated 50 years in the pest control business in June of 2015. Served 23 years on the Virginia Pesticide Control Board…appointed and re-appointed by six Governors. In 1987, was named Virginia Small Business Person of the year by the Small Business Administration. Served as President of the Virginia Pest Control Association and also served on the NPMA BOD. Served on NPMA's Government Affairs Committee six years. Past Chairman of the Board Mary Washington Healthcare…largest employer in the Fredericksburg area. Joe was inducted into the first PCT first Hall of Fame class in early 1980's.
