NPMA has heard countless tales about the difficulty pest management professionals are having in attracting qualified job applicants, particularly technicians. Accordingly, we have launched the Career Connection, a multi-faceted program to help industry companies attract and retain qualified employees.
The first phase of the Career Connection begins with the Career Center, an online jobs posting board providing industry companies with a targeted approach to promote their talent needs. Whether you have a job to fill or are seeking employment, NPMA’s Career Center can support you!
Recognizing not everyone understands the opportunities associated with working in professional pest control, NPMA has developed three new videos to interest hard-working men and women who want to help people in a career in this industry.
In addition, our consumer interfacing site, PestWorld.org, operated by the Professional Pest Management Alliance, promotes the industry as a good place to work and will be used as the primary platform to educate the public about careers in the industry.
With these initial tools at our disposal, NPMA will now build out additional resources in our recruitment framework. We will reach out to hiring organizations and educate them about pest control. We are exploring the development of model curriculum for schools and we are even looking at outreach to youth groups to begin early education about careers in entomology and the business of pest management.
