The Gary D. Curl and Carol-Jones Curl Scholarship

Award Amount: One (1) award per year totaling $1,000
Gary Curl and Carol Jones-Curl have established the Gary D. Curl and Carol Jones-Curl Scholarship to support a student pursuing a career in professional pest management. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a student graduating from high school and entering the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) at the University of Delaware or a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student attending the University of Delaware in the CANR.
Scholarship Criteria
- Student graduating from high school entering the University of Delaware and attending the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, or a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student attending the University of Delaware attending the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
- Full time student in good academic standing with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Application Submission Requirements
- Resume or curriculum vita.
- Current unofficial academic transcript.
- A one-page (minimum) essay describing applicant’s professional goals and aspirations and how he/she plans to use their studies to contribute to their field.
- At least one (1) letter of recommendation from the applicant’s teacher or counselor addressing the applicant’s progress in studies, and his or her work ethic.
- Other supporting documents (research papers and proposals, faculty research participation, related industry internship participation, fellowship projects, industry work experience, etc.) can also be submitted.

2024-2025 Recipient Ethni Amsale University of Delaware Ethni Amsale is a Wildlife Ecology and Conservation student at the University of Delaware, graduating in Spring 2025. Her passion for animals began at age 6 after watching a documentary on factory farming, which led her to become vegetarian and inspired my pursuit of conservation. At the University of Delaware, Ethni has conduct research in addition to working as an undergraduate research assistant in both the Department of Anthropology and the Department of Animal and Food Sciences. Ethni also actively participates in the Pre-Veterinary Club and The Wildlife Society, where she collaborates with professionals and contributes to volunteer initiatives. |
